Goulburn Valley might be synonymous with peaches and apricots to most of us, but for Comdain, it’s the setting for a major government-funded irrigation project.
Once completed in 2010, the upgraded irrigation system will save water and significantly reduce operating costs in the major areas of Northern Victoria.
As part of Future Flow (Goulburn-Murray Water Alliance), Comdain will be involved in the laying of new pipes, upgrading water meters and replacing once-wooden water gates, without disrupting business operations.
A project of this magnitude has led to calls for Skilled Labourers, Pipe layers, Project Engineers and Site Supervisors to name but a few, and the hunt is on to find qualified, eager staff.
Comdain is one of the few businesses that hasn’t been affected by the weakening economy, with utility projects under way in Gippsland, Aurora and Brisbane.
Human Resources Manager,Mark Emery, says “We just keep putting people on!”
Comdain has delivered over $200m worth of infrastructure, construction and maintenance projects within the last 2 years, in both private and government sectors.
The organisation currently employs over 400 staff, in nine operational service centres.
Specialising in civil construction, utilities, along with residential and commercial construction, Comdain regularly provide training to up-skill and multi-skill their employees.
